Plan Your Day

  • The fleet of thirty-three open-top red buses is perhaps the longest running car service in America. Enjoy a half or full day of being chauffeured through the stunning Glacier National Park in a historic bus that seats 17.  Meadow Lake Resort guests will likely book a tour that departs from the West Side of the park.  These popular tours sell out daily, so book early and expect to share your bus bench with three others. Recommended Time:  Full Day—tours range from 3 to 9.5 hours Distance: 40-minute drive from Meadow Lake Resort to Apgar Village Cost:  Varies but tours start at $56 per adult and $31 per child. • You’ll find Glacier’s Lake McDonald Lodge right off the Going to the Sun road. Enjoy the historic Swiss Chalet style 1913 lodge built to lure rail travelers to the Northwest. It sits astride Glacier’s largest lake and was once only accessible by boat.  Plan to get out on the emerald-hued lake in a rented personal watercraft or enjoy an hour tour in the historic wooden hulled DeSmet. Recommended Time:  Two hours to half day Distance: Hour drive from Meadow Lake Resort Cost:  Varies.  Boat tours $18.25 per adult and $9.25 per child.  Rentals range from $10 per hour for paddle boats to $23 per hour for 8 hp motorboats Recommended Attire:  Layers, sunscreen and sunglasses.  Check for weather in park Intensity:  Intensity appropriate for all ages More Information:  Contact Meadow Lake Resort Activities Desk (800) 321-4653 or direct website: http://glacierparkboats.com/tour/lake-mcdonald/
  • Venture to Glacier’s east side to spend a day hiking, boating or relaxing at Two Medicine Lake. In the days prior to Going-to-the-Sun Road, this now off-the main path lake was among the most popular destinations in the park. Today, the lake is still a hub of activity, offering hikes appropriate for all ages and abilities, boat tours of the lake, and lake front-relaxation. Recommended time: Full day with drive Distance: 2-hour drive from Meadow Lake Resort Cost: Varies. Boat tours $13.75 per adult and $6.75 per child. • Offering something for all ages, the Logan Pass Visitor Center is perched at the highest point of the Going to the Sun Road. It’s deep in the park and offers not only Ranger-led activities but trail heads for two popular hikes—the Highline and Hidden lakes trail. Parking can be difficult at the visitor center in peak seasons. It is the terminus on the park’s free shuttle service. Distance: 1 ½ -3 hour drive from Meadow Lake Resort depending on traffic congestion in the park. Cost: None after park entrance paid Recommended Attire: Layers, sunscreen and sunglasses.
